The Mandalorian and Grogu

Short Review

Review: Simply put, this movie is an extended version of a good episode of “The Mandalorian.” It’s not a bad episode by any means, but it’s not the best, or even the most complex episode. The movie is an extended journey of Mando helping the New Republic by attempting to find an old Imperial officer named Coin, and in the process freeing and fighting with Rotta the Hutt. There’s fun Mando action, but that’s where most of the fun of the movie lies. The story is good enough, but your overall enjoyment of the film will be based on how much fun you have with the action scenes and how much you enjoy seeing Mando and Grogu together.

To me, I find the most enjoyment in Star Wars when it comes with The Force and Lightsabers. I know that there is so much more to Star Wars than that, but I find that to be the heart, life, and DNA of Star Wars movies. With this movie being about bounty hunting, it didn’t fully scratch the Star Wars itch I want. Yes, we do see Grogu use the force once or twice, but it’s minimal. I also find Grogu to be more of a marketing gimmick for kids, so I don’t find his character that interesting.

That being said, the movie was a good-enough Star Wars movie, definitely better than the Rise of Skywalker. If you are a fan of the show (which I haven’t seen), you will definitely have a better time than I did with the movie. I just wish the movie had more of what I like in a Star Wars movie
