Supergirl
Short Review
Review: Even though I saw this just yesterday, I don’t have many deep thoughts about the movie as a whole. It’s good, not bad, and not great. Millie Alcock does a great job playing Supergirl, and Jason Momoa is a ton of fun as Lobo. The story is simple, yet it is a great story to develop the Supergirl character and to teach you more about her. Most people online didn’t care for the villain of the movie (Krem), but I found him to suit the story well enough, and the actor playing him did a great job playing a freaky space pirate. The parts of the movie I didn’t care for were the music and the Ruthye character. The actress playing Ruthye did the best with what she had, but the writing for her character was just terrible. The best way I’ve seen her character described was Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, but she had none of the personality or fun character traits. She just has and wants to use a sword to get revenge on the man who killed her father. As for the music, the score wasn’t memorable at all, and some of the songs they chose for the soundtrack were not good and did not fit the vibe and tone of the scene they were in.
As for recent DC movies, Superman was definitely better, but this movie isn’t as bad as some people online will put it out as. It’s by no means perfect, and they definitely could have found ways to make the story much more engaging and to improve the dialogue and overall character of Ruthye, but it was a good enough watch that I definitely think you could have some fun with.
